What to Bring

Via Linda Behavioral Health will ensure the safety of all patients and staff by defining which items are permissible on Via Linda Behavioral Hospital, and items that are prohibited. Room and personal search policies are in place to ensure the safety of all involved.  Via Linda provides blankets, pillows, sheets and hygiene products for all patients. If special hygiene products are needed by the patient they may not contain Alcohol as an ingredient. Fiction and Non-Fiction books are available for use.

Please Bring: All Units

  • 3-4 Days’ worth of clothing. (see the do not bring list for appropriate clothing type.)
  • Sleeping attire (no strings)
  • Comfortable shoes such as running shoes or slides (shoes cannot contain laces or long straps)
  • List of current medications with dose, reason for administration etc.
  • List of phone numbers for providers (PCP, Therapist, Case Manager etc)
  • List of phone numbers for family
  • Phone numbers for employers
  • Medical history
  • CPAP Machine – if needed
  • Optional Items:
    • Soft covered Bible or Religious Scripture
    • Soft covered reading books

Please Bring: Military Unit

  • 6-7 Days’ worth of civilian clothes (Belts are permitted only during off-campus outings; they cannot be worn throughout the day.)
  • PT Gear (civilian or military)
  • Shower shoes
  • House slippers
  • Closed-toe shoes and running shoes (one pair laced for PT, one pair no laces such as loafers)
  • OIC and/or SEL contact info
  • List of points of contact
  • List of current medications and Medications
  • Limited cash* (No more than $50)
  • Chewing Tobacco or Tobacco packets
  • Medical history
  • CPAP Machine – if needed
  • Optional Items:
    • Soft covered Bible or Religious Scripture
    • Soft covered reading books

Please Do NOT Bring:

  • Inappropriate clothing (revealing or referencing racism, sexism, drugs or alcohol)
  • Clothing items with drawstrings
  • Hats
  • Shoes with laces/long straps
  • Flip Flops
  • Hangers
  • Safety pins/needles/push pins
  • Steel-toed shoes
  • Mirrors/compacts
  • Any product containing alcohol (including mouthwash)
  • Heeled shoes
  • Recording devices
  • Lighters
  • Vapes, e-cigarettes, chewing tobacco, tobacco packets, cigarettes, marijuana, CBD
  • Keepsake items
  • Aluminum cans
  • Outside food or drink
  • No jewelry (only spiritual or wedding bands)
  • Hardcover books
  • Home pillows or blankets
  • Stuffed animals
  • Valuable items
  • No pre-work out supplements
